Tower Hobbies sent over their EP F4U Corsair model in Rx-R configuration for testing. You’ll spend more time watching the review than you will assembling the model, so check out the videos and see if the Tower Hobbies F4U Corsair is right for you!
Corsairs seem to be popping up everywhere. Long revered as RC planes but often avoided by the faint of heart, today’s Corsairs have the benefit of being available at a much lower price point than their covered balsa, glow powered counterparts. All hail the foam! Add to that the amazing dull-finished tri-tone paint schemes, seemless decals and fuselage details and you’ve got a model that’s a dead ringer for the real deal at about 5 feet.
Our Corsair was assembled in under 20 minutes and ready for flight before the battery was finished charging. Once out at the field, the Corsair leapt off the ground after a very modest 10-12 foot roll-out at about 3/4 throttle so power was not a problem. In the air we had the benefit of zero trimming. Rob will tell you it’s because of his perfect assembly but truth be told, the Corsair flies straight and true with visual control surface alignment if you’ve got the CG on the mark. Maybe he does get a little credit.
Flying the Corsair was.. well, watch the full review and see for yourself!
